Mikasa Sushi Bar

Hi readers!

Today, I want to introduce Mikasa Sushi Bar to you. Mikasa is a very known sushi restaurant in Montreal. I believe they have over 5 franchises. I've been to only 2 of them: on Boulevard Acadie, and the other one in downtown. They all have a very elegant (although not-very-japanese) decor, giving the restaurant a romantic atmostphere. However, a drawback is that the tables are too close to each other in my opinion, so it makes the place a bit noisy and less intimate. But it is possible to get a tatami room, I suggest you call for reservation first and it will be perfect for a family reunion or friends gathering.

This day, we were 4. We ordered a sushi boat for 4 people. It includes nigiri, sashimi and some maki rolls. One of my friends, who just like me, loves to eat, says that Mikasa is good for their rolls. I personally like Mikasa for the traditional sushi. It is true that I never ordered any of the creative rolls, but anyway, I find the nigiri and sashimi are of high quality. Here are some pictures of some yummy sushi I've had. =)

Look at the sushi closer!! Isn't the colour of the fish and seafood really nice? They shine!! They look and taste so fresh!
Since my friend recommends the maki rolls so much, here are some pictures of the maki rolls. I have no idea what is the name of these rolls since they were included in the sushi combo. They look rather normal but are tasteful. If you go to Mikasa's website, you will see other more creative rolls to impress you.

For desserts, this is a trilogie de creme brulee. The three flavours include vanilla, capuccino and green tea. Although I love green tea and desserts of tea flavour, the green tea creme brulee is surprisingly the one I like the least. I think the green tea flavour could have been a bit more enhanced, but it was overall a successful creative dessert that is not too heavy. I recommend the trilogie de creme brulee to everyone who loves desserts that are not too sweet.
My brother, who is an ice cream lover, never forgets to order this dessert in restaurants. This is a trilogie de creme glacee: green tea, mango and red bean flavours.

Nails Inc Haymarket

I finally got some time to try my Nails Inc nail polish. This one is called Haymarket. It is a cream turquoise colour. It looks a lot like China Glaze For Audrey but this Nails Inc one is a bit green-er. I've been told that Nails Inc is very popular in Britain so my expectations for this brand was pretty high. Overall, it is not bad. Application was ok smooth, but I felt it was more like paint than nail polish hahahah Ohh one more thing, a good top coat is a must to have a glossy finish touch on Nails Inc nail polishes. For some reason, the colour looks.. I wouldn't say matte but it is definitely not shiny. I've always believed that aperfect manicure should look perfectly smooth and glossy, so to me, this is a big imperfection... but as summer is approaching, it's nice to have this colour on the nails!

Raku again!

Last week was my birthday so even though I am in my busy end of semester period, I still managed to go out and have some fun time with my friends. d= I have been talking about Raku Izakaya so much and one of my friends really wanted to try it..so here we are in Raku!

It was a busy night, so we ended up in the basement, which was still very nice and cozy. =) For appetizers, we had..
1) Raku tempura which includes cucomber, sweet potatoes, crab meat, scallop, and shrimp.
2) Sushi pizza. A deep fried rice "cake" as the pizza crust topped with slices of fish sashimi, red caviar, tempura flakes, and mayo. Perhaps I have tried too many sushi pizza, I found this one not bad but ordinary.
This maki is included in our sushi combo.
Tempura roll. Inside is salmon and it is served with a sauce that tastes like sweet soya sauce.
Chirashi! This is probably my favorite dish at Raku. A lot of sashimi and of great variety served on sushi rice. The chef selects the best seafood they have that day so everytime you order it,you enjoy a different chirashi. You get to eat the most fresh sashimi and also try some new stuff that you might have never ordered.

That night, besides the "regular sashimi", we had the chance to try jellyfish sashimi, wasabi tako (raw octopus is so rare!!), abalone sashimi, and a special caviar I forgot the name.
Dessert time! This is a very good mochi ice cream. The green one is green tea flavour and the red one is red bean.
As we became more like friends with the owner, he offered us to try his new dessert that may be added to the menu. Green tea macaron! It was my first time eating macaron, and of course, I liked it =)

Rescue Beauty Lounge treatment system

These are my nails, using the RBL's full treatment system. I kept this konadicure for 10 days and I find they still look very new after more than a week. I decided to remove it only because we see a "big" part of my naked nails d=

What should I say about RBL treatment system? I absolutely love it!! Besides the good quality of the nail polishes, I really love their special yet simple bottle shape! Unlike the regular treatment with only base coat and top coat, RBL has in addition a pre base coat, which makes their system unique and outstanding. I have always found the most crucial step of doing nails be the nail care part. The secret of a good manicure is simply having a good base coat to protect the nails and let the nail polish stick better to the nail plate. As we should put a lot a lot of cream and cuticle oil, especially during winter, the base coat tends to not stick so well on our nails because of the oily surface. At this point, you will find RBL's pre base coat a genius invention! hahahah And finally, of course, a good top coat is important for the finishing step to protect the manicure and make our nails shiny and perfect.

When I do my manicure now, I always put the pre base coat, base coat, nail polish, and then the top coat. Trust me, I feel more like a professional using RBL's impeccable treatment system d=

For this konadicure, I used Essie Innocent and konad plate m57.

*I'm sorry for the bad quality picture of my nails. It is a .gif image. I don't know why when I upload this picture under .jpeg, it keeps rotating..
