Back!

I am back everyone!! So sorry for the lack of posts. I can't believe I haven't blogged anything for almost a month!!

Very briefly, besides my current part-time job, I also started my summer job, which is teaching mathematics to children at a Chinese school for their "summer camp". Yes, asians are very intense sometimes.. At the summer camp, children have math, English, Chinese, French classes...A good thing is that we do not give tests and homework, so the children can relax a little during summer. They also have some fun classes, like arts, martial arts, dance, etc. I personally think it is a very nice camp for the children for they can still learn but in a more fun and stress-free way. =) I absolutely love my job there! Kids can be very very loud and naughty sometimes, but they are sooo cute and it is sooo funny just watching and talking with them. I never imagined I would have so much fun with them heheheh

Now, back to nail polishes, I went to Katie Nail Salon for the manicure and pedicure deluxe coupon I bought from Teambuy. It was a big disappointment! The discount in the price made a huge difference in the quality of service provided. Some might say that it is "normal" that if the salon charges customers less, the service will be of lower quality. I do not agree at all. If they are not happy with the price we pay, they should just not engage in these agreements with Teambuy and other sites to offer disounts for consumers. If quality goes with the price, then why offer discounts??!

For my mani colour, I chose Essie Sugar Daddy. It is very sheer. I think 2 more coats would have been a lot better. The next day, I decided to paint OPI Stranger Tides over this Sugar Daddy, because seriously, I don't see trace of nail polish here!
As for my feet, I chose OPI Lucky Lavender. I love the colour. I am actually thinking of getting a bottle for myself d=
Lastly, the below picture shows my feet before having the pedicure. Do you think they look better here? hahahah According to what they say, the package I bought includes a reflexology treatment, cooling mask, exfoliation, etc. I really did not feel I enjoyed much of it, and they probably skipped a lot of the treatments. Is it possible that the whole mani and pedi DELUXE, including drying time, took roughly 1 hour??
Katie Salon is situated on Queen Mary. The salon looks very nice but I will NEVER go back! It was really not worth it. For the first time in my life, I didn't tip them for the quality was so incredibly poor.

Essie Spaghetti Strap

Essie Spaghetti Strap is a nice sheer pink colour. This picture is 4 coats. I believe it's one of the few times I wear a sheer colour. Love it! It looks like my nails got a gel manicure, isn't it? I bought a gel manicure package online and I really can't wait to try it! For now, I'll have fake gel nails using Essie Spaghetti Strap d=

Rescue Beauty Lounge treatment system

These are my nails, using the RBL's full treatment system. I kept this konadicure for 10 days and I find they still look very new after more than a week. I decided to remove it only because we see a "big" part of my naked nails d=

What should I say about RBL treatment system? I absolutely love it!! Besides the good quality of the nail polishes, I really love their special yet simple bottle shape! Unlike the regular treatment with only base coat and top coat, RBL has in addition a pre base coat, which makes their system unique and outstanding. I have always found the most crucial step of doing nails be the nail care part. The secret of a good manicure is simply having a good base coat to protect the nails and let the nail polish stick better to the nail plate. As we should put a lot a lot of cream and cuticle oil, especially during winter, the base coat tends to not stick so well on our nails because of the oily surface. At this point, you will find RBL's pre base coat a genius invention! hahahah And finally, of course, a good top coat is important for the finishing step to protect the manicure and make our nails shiny and perfect.

When I do my manicure now, I always put the pre base coat, base coat, nail polish, and then the top coat. Trust me, I feel more like a professional using RBL's impeccable treatment system d=

For this konadicure, I used Essie Innocent and konad plate m57.

*I'm sorry for the bad quality picture of my nails. It is a .gif image. I don't know why when I upload this picture under .jpeg, it keeps rotating..

Essie Topless & Barefoot

Topless & Barefoot is a total surprise! I thought this would be the colour I like the least in the Spring collection. This is also why I tried it last.. but what a great surprise! Formula is the best one among the 4 nail polishes I have. I have nothing to complain about the application! This beige colour makes your hand look softer and more elegant. An appropriate neutral colour to wear in my future interviews or business occasions. I love it!! =)

Essie French Affair

French Affair is a creme pastel pink. Application was bad, not smooth at all. This nail polish is very thick (at least for my bottle). Overall, it's not my favorite nail polish, but nice colour to wear during the spring.

Essie Coat Azure

Just taking a break from studying for my last midterm to show you Essie Coat Azure. At first, I thought this was a creme blue but it turned out to be a shimmer. I am not a fan of shimmer nail polishes, but this one is gorgeous =)

Application was better than Nice is Nice. 2 coats.

New nail polishes again!!

Essie Spring Collection 2011! I bought the mini set again (for about 20$ CAD) which includes 4 colours that I love!
Topless & Barefoot and Coat Azure.
Nice is Nice and French Affair.
To be honest, I've never been a fan of Essie. I find their formula so so...but their colours are just lovely! The first one I tried is a creme baby purple colour. It is definitely my type of colour, so I love it!! This is 3 coats.
I am so excited!! It's been "a while" I haven't gotten myself nail polishes.. there are so many for me to try on now!! Nails Inc.. Bourjois.. OPI Katy Perry.. and now Essie Spring Collection!!
This is it for now! Next post: Essie Coat Azure!

Another sweet post =)

Do you guys like it? It's my valentine's gift that I received two days ago =) Love Juicy Minutes!
My nail colour on that day was a soft and mature creme pink: Essie Innocent. Do they go well with my new watch? =)

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

'Minnie on Hand' by Miss K

Good morning!

My dear friend Miss K took a break from her school work and recruitment to send me a picture of her latest manicure. She named it Minnie on Hand, because the design reminded her of Minnie Mouse!

She used Essie Innocent to make the tips!
The polka dots are super cute! Next manicure should be name after Mickey! ;)

Have fun today!

Update!

Hey guys!!!

I hope you all had a real good Easter weekend!

I'm so sorry for the serious lack of updates. Finals are coming up and I have so many papers to write for my courses!! Spending my weekend away and without my computer definitely made it a bit harder on me (I'm a big procrastinator, I just love to work under pressure!).

However, it's the weekend again so I'll just take a little time to show something new!

Essie Rockstar Skinny, a dark brownish red with a subtle shimmer. I love this color!! Very sexy haha!! My picture doesn't do it any justice, though. I'll have to try to get a better one...

Also, here's Miss K's konadicure from last week:
Before leaving last week, I lent my friend Miss K a few nail polishes to do her nails, so I'll have that to show you the next few days! Hopefully, I'll get my nail polishes back!! I heard she REALLY like China Glaze's Agent Lavender....

Before I forget, I just really wanted to thank every person that has commented on my 'help a blogger' post! You guys gave me some great suggestions! I'll look for some pictures and show them all to my cousin. Hopefully, there's at least one of them that she likes! I will also be keeping the konading idea in mind.
I'll keep you guys updated, and will definitely post some pictures!!

Have a great weekend everybody!!

MAC Wham Bam Glam Swatch and Comparison

Quick swatch for you guys today! I just got this from the MAC Store!! I bought Wham Bam Glam matte polish from the Riveting Collection, which also includes Studded and Black Enough. My intentions were to get Studded, a light silver matte with 'pearls', but since I really wanted to test MAC's matte formula and Studded was sold out, I went with Wham Bam Glam :)

Here it is, over a basecoat (Nubar Nu Nail)! MAC's web-description is very much what this polish is, a cool dark taupe. Application was alright, just like any other matte nail polishes, the formula is a bit on the thicker side, so you have to work with it carefully. Drying time was normal, to as fast as my OPI suedes, but still in a reasonable amount of time.

Pinkie: Sephora by OPI Metro Chic Matte
Ring: OPI You Don't Know Jacques + Essie Matte About You
Middle: OPI Over the Taupe + Essie Matte About You
Index: MAC Wham Bam Glam

I did a quick comparison of WBG with other taupe polishes I had. The closest match - almost a true match - was OPI You Don't Know Jacques topped with Essie Matte About You top coat. The color was so similar, I actually think that if you have YDKJ and MAY, you don't need Wham Bam Glam: you won't need to worry about having ridges as the formulas are much easier to work with.
[Note:
I do not own You Don't Know Jacques Matte, so couldn't do comparison!]

All in all, I would say that if you intend to pick up a MAC matte nail polish, get Studded!! It's really the only one that stands out from the three. This retails for $14.50CAD and $12 USD!

Essie Shelter Island and Orly Cashmere Cardigan

Another blue from Essie North Fork Collection.

Essie Shelter Island

Orly Cashmere Cardigan

This is one of my favorite! A beautiful periwinkle blue creme, though it leans more towards lavender than blue. Very pretty and very nice application.

Essie Sag Harbor

Sag Harbor. I love this one's subtle shimmer!! It can be described as a light greyed pastel blue shimmer. I don't think I own any other color like this one. I believe Essie North Fork was the first full collection that I bought, and I definitely don't regret it! All three polishes from this collection are gorgeous!

Essie Shelter Island

From Essie's North Fork Collection, this is Shelter Island. A beautiful azure shade. The formula was absolutely amazing - same with my bottle of Greenport and Sag Harbor - no dragging, no pulling, it was opaque in two coats. I absolutely love this collection!!

Essie Wild Thing

Today I have for you Essie Wild Thing, a 'ferociously sparkling wine' color, as described on Essie's website. This is, according to me, a rosy red shimmer with a small amount of silver glitter. It's very cutesy but I thought it did not have enough glitter!! Needs moar!!!

Have an amazing day!

Look at me - I gotta case of body language

No, no, those are not lyrics from a Heidi Montag's song, but rather, from one of the greatest band EVER, Queen!!

Queen's Body Language was the song that I had stuck in my head when I swatched this color--Essie Body Language.
I would describe this shade as a pinkish, greyish neutral shade. It's a very very light beige colour, I'd say. (3 coats)

I think I've got the 'cantstopshopping' bug... School being right downtown and in the middle of shops is NOT helping me...I'm constantly thinking about my next purchase, whether it's nail polish, CDs or clothes; and what stores I want to go to.
What's happening?! I was so good last semester!! Must.resist.Concentrate.on.school.

Essie Swept Off My Feet

Swept Off My Feet - cute muted pink creme. It feels strange to type this, but I really like this color on me! Application was ok-the formula is a bit thin and runny so I had to do 3 coats.

Pink Round Up 2

More Pinks!! Here is the second part of my pinks!

Zoya Dita

OPI That's Hot! Pink

Essie Short Shorts. (Neon in real life and a bit darker)

Zoya Renee (neon pink)

China Glaze Sexy Lady

Zoya Emme

All of these were 2 coaters, no problems with application.

Pinks Round Up

October is over, same goes for midterms :) Hoorah!!
So I've been doing pinks this month and realized that I don't have many of them. Haha makes sense, since I don't like pink on my nails all that much.

Here they are:

OPI La Paz-Itively Hot matte

Zoya Ali

Essie Status Symbol

Sally Hansen HD Hi-Res

China Glaze Mom's Chiffon

OPI Kreme de la Kremlin

Zoya Katy

MAC Lola Devine

I have a 3 more pinks in my stash but they're all neon and with the weather right now in Mtl, it's pretty hard to get the color right. I tried, but they all look the same in the pictures... I'll wait till we have a bit of sun, and I'll swatch them again :)

Essie Status Symbol

Another pink! This is Essie Status Symbol. A pretty Barbie-ish pink.

Application was a breeze! No clean up necessary! This was 2 coats with top coat.

So I've realized after wearing pink on my nail that I don't like pink nail polish. I like to see it on other people but when I'm the one wearing it, I can't help but think "ehhh" everytime I look at my own nails. It's probably because I've never been a girly girl, but anyways.

I guess October is going to help me get through all my untried pinks.
Also, my dear mom came home with a bottle of pure acetone for me! What rhis means: I can wear my glitter polishes!!!!!YAY!
