Fairies

This is a simple nail art. I added some black fairies and some purple flowers on my pink nails. The bubbles that come with the fairy design on the Konad plate are so lovely and add a hint of fairy tale. I really like to "cut" the image when I do my konadicures; I don't stamp the entire image to make each nail unique. I thought that it might not work as well when it comes to fairies..but the result isn't bad, isn't it? d= The colours and design remind me of spring. What do you think?

These nails are from last year....I loved them so much that I keep comparing all my konadicures to this one. From the colours to the design, I find this is no doubt my best creation! I also find that the pictures taken last year are nicer and clearer.......

Back!

I am back everyone!! So sorry for the lack of posts. I can't believe I haven't blogged anything for almost a month!!

Very briefly, besides my current part-time job, I also started my summer job, which is teaching mathematics to children at a Chinese school for their "summer camp". Yes, asians are very intense sometimes.. At the summer camp, children have math, English, Chinese, French classes...A good thing is that we do not give tests and homework, so the children can relax a little during summer. They also have some fun classes, like arts, martial arts, dance, etc. I personally think it is a very nice camp for the children for they can still learn but in a more fun and stress-free way. =) I absolutely love my job there! Kids can be very very loud and naughty sometimes, but they are sooo cute and it is sooo funny just watching and talking with them. I never imagined I would have so much fun with them heheheh

Now, back to nail polishes, I went to Katie Nail Salon for the manicure and pedicure deluxe coupon I bought from Teambuy. It was a big disappointment! The discount in the price made a huge difference in the quality of service provided. Some might say that it is "normal" that if the salon charges customers less, the service will be of lower quality. I do not agree at all. If they are not happy with the price we pay, they should just not engage in these agreements with Teambuy and other sites to offer disounts for consumers. If quality goes with the price, then why offer discounts??!

For my mani colour, I chose Essie Sugar Daddy. It is very sheer. I think 2 more coats would have been a lot better. The next day, I decided to paint OPI Stranger Tides over this Sugar Daddy, because seriously, I don't see trace of nail polish here!
As for my feet, I chose OPI Lucky Lavender. I love the colour. I am actually thinking of getting a bottle for myself d=
Lastly, the below picture shows my feet before having the pedicure. Do you think they look better here? hahahah According to what they say, the package I bought includes a reflexology treatment, cooling mask, exfoliation, etc. I really did not feel I enjoyed much of it, and they probably skipped a lot of the treatments. Is it possible that the whole mani and pedi DELUXE, including drying time, took roughly 1 hour??
Katie Salon is situated on Queen Mary. The salon looks very nice but I will NEVER go back! It was really not worth it. For the first time in my life, I didn't tip them for the quality was so incredibly poor.

OPI Sweet Heart

Hi dearest readers!

I know I was supposed to post about OPI Stranger Tides..but I changed my mind d=

My summer class is finally over!! After continuous group work, paper, presentations, and exams, I feel soooo free! Stress-less! This feeling is soo great! Right after my final, I went out and had a nice day with my boyfriend. =)

Therefore, I finally painted my nails with OPI Sweet Heart, a sweet and soft pale pink. These pale colours with a white pigment base are always more difficult to apply. Surprisingly, I did not have much problem with OPI Sweet Heart. This is 2 coats.

The second picture is more accurate in terms of the colour. It is a very light beige pink. My friend at work says it looks a lot like Essie Spaghetti Strap but I find OPI Sweet Heart more opaque.

This friend will be leaving me soon; she found another job that is more in her field of studies =( I am very happy for her, but really sad about it in the same time. We have been working together every Saturday for so long... It is so great to have someone with whom you talk, have fun but never forget to have the job done seriously and properly. I am thinking of getting her a small gift with some nail polishes (so she remembers me heheheh) and some candies, because her eyes shine when she sees candies ; ) hahahha

OPI Planks a Lot

Hi everyone!

As promised, this nail post is about another nail lacquer from OPI's collection inspired from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Planks a Lot, a rich purple creme. Nice but you will not fall in love with it. I love Skull & Glossbones's unique light grey that sometimes brings a hint of green-tea-green shade. Although it is not a colour that I would wear often, the colour is evidently very special. On the other hand, OPI Planks a Lot's shade might be easier to wear and match but in the same time it is just another dark pastel purple that enormously resembles to Gosh Wild Lilac. I guess the S&G surprise has raisen my expectation. I thought that it would be a lighter purple so another shade of lilac will be added to my collection of nail polish. And.. did anyone question about how a movie about pirates come up with a lilac colour? hahah

Even though Planks a Lot is somehow an ordinary colour, I must say that application was a total surprise. The perfect formula makes the nail polish amazingly smooth, I would even say that it is one of the best nail polish in terms of application. Thumbs up for this part!

OPI Skull & Glossbones

Hello readers!

Another cream colour collection from OPI. I could not resist and finally brought it home! This mini set comes with 4 colours.

For now, I am very excited to present you OPI Skull & Glossbones!! It is the first bottle from the left. This colour is gorgeous! It is a neutral grey with a hint of green that reminds me of some green tea desserts. I didn't think I would love it so much! The unique and formal style it creates is amazing. Fashionable yet subtle, it is appropriate even for work! Very lovely!

Application was so-so to me. 3 coats were necessary to achieve opacity.

Next nail polish post will be... Planks a Lot!

OPI Katy Perry's Last Friday Night

Finally, I am back to Katy Perry's Collection! I used my second favorite nail polish of the collection, Last Friday Night, to create this lovely and simply nail art, which I decided to name "Little Mermaid".

It was very difficult to achieve bottle colour, so after more than 7 coats, I gave up! Nevertheless, this lighter blue is still very sweet and reminds me of the sea and the fairy tale Little Mermaid. This blue glitter is really cute, I think I prefer this colour over Teenage Dream =)

I asked a few colleagues at work whether I should add a stampling but they all said no.. what do you think?

OPI Teenage Dream from Katy Perry Collection

Yesterday was such a lovely day!!! I received my valentine's day gift! =) Not only that, the OPI Katy Perry Collection finally came to my home and Teenage Dream is on my nails! As you can see, they are mini bottles which I love! Soo cute!! And I personally prefer cream colours, so a too big bottle might just be a "waste" to me. More importantly, the size makes the set cheaper! hahaha I got mine for about $17 CDN. Here are some pictures I took. This is 2 coats and the colour is slightly darker in real life. I believe 3 coats would be better but since it is a glitter nail polish..I thought of the moment I will be removing it..ahh it will take forever!! Anyway, I still love Teenage Dream for the sparkling and the pink colour suit perfectly its name, what do you think?

OPI Fiercely Fiona

Quick update...

You guys will have to forgive my nails and cuticles on this one.... My left hand often gets neglected... It doesn't get the same treatment as my right hand, which is why I normally don't photograph it :P
I am still trying to get my nails back to how they were a year ago.

Fiercely Fiona, a chartreuse creme. It looked different in the bottle, but turned out less green and more yellow once on the nail. Application was... not good. 5 coats to achieve coverage.

Happy Chinese New Year!!

Since it's Chinese New Year, I decided to paint a red colour on my nails. I thought Red My Fortune Cookie from OPI's Hong Kong Collection is very appropriate for this day! It is not my first time using Red My Fortune Cookie. I've used it on my french tips, on my friend's nails..but never on my whole nails! Generally speaking, I find red is not my colour so I never wear it on my hands even though it's a classic colour. But wow! this red with a little orange shade doesn't look that bad on me, isn't it? =) It is only last night's application that I realized how good the formula of my mini OPI bottle is!! Impeccable!! This is 2 coats, but even one coat would have been sufficient.

OPI What's With the Cattitude?

I'm back!
Who knew school could be so hectic so soon?! It feels like I just started yesterday, yet midterm is next week already! Time flies!

I took a little small from MAC polishes and wore OPI What's With The Cattitude from the Shrek Collection for more than a week (last week), and received lots of compliments! Made me so happy! :)

What's With The Cattitude is a soft blue creme. Cute and beautiful - perfect for spring/summer! I love this color because it is different than the other blues I own- Cattitude is light, pastel blue. Application was easy, 2 coats to achieve bottle color.

(Please ignore my dried cuticles... winter weather has taken a toll on them. Even hand and cuticle cream can't help it.)

Winter collection: "Merry Christmas!"

Hello everyone!

School is finally done for me!! Today, I spent some great time with a friend, right after my last exam, to do what? ................... NAILS of course =) The above pictures are my newest designs on my friend's hands.

My winter collection is getting a little bigger with this konadicure which I decided to name "Merry Christmas!" Red colour, bells, snowman, snowflakes are all elements related to Christmas. Therefore, I had to use many different images from my plates. I used OPI Red My Fortune Cookie, plates m12 (it's a Christmas plate!), m 59 and m45 to do this manucure. And of course I did not forget to top every nail off with a silver glitter top coat! I just want to say that I find the designs on the thumbs look like Christmas cards..heheheh what do you think?

It took a little longer than expected to accomplish this work but I believe it was worth it because I just love it! I hope you all like it as much as my friend and I do!

Wedding!!!

Hey guys!!

The wedding was AMAZING! Everything went smoothly, the bride, groom, bridesmaids (and junior bridesmaids) and groomsmen all looked so good! I am so happy for my cousin!! :) I couldn't contain my joy... as soon as she walked down the aisle, I started to cry.

Anywho, everybody had such a great time! My cousin looked stunning!

All the bridesmaids wore  lavender dresses, so we chose very neutral colors. I totally forgot to take pictures that day, but I swatched the colors quickly last weekend. (I broke a nail at work, so please excuse my ugly-looking index nail).

And now for the bride!!!! We went to Wal-Mart together one day, and I was trying to explain to her to color I thought would be perfect when I saw this one. It was perfect! She loved it!!!

I've been meaning to update you all on my cousin's wedding. As you may remember, we had chosen Zoya Miley for the bride's mani. Unfortunately, after trying it on her, my cousin didn't like it has much as I had hoped. She just did not like it against her skintone. :( We've decided to go for something even more subtle, so I'm back on the hunt for her perfect color! I bought a Sally Hansen yesterday, will post it here soon!

OPI - OPI on Collins Ave is from the South Beach Collection from 2009. It's a bright orange/reddish coral creme. I love this! Very summer-y!

I've been struggling with swatching and changing manis recently. I'm always tempted to pick out greens or blues for summer, but I can't wear those colors to work!! Damn office...... I'll do my best to swatch more during the weekend!

OPI Sheer Your Toys

Sheer Your Toys is a gray shimmer with copper flakes. It is not sheer like the name suggest, but I still did 3 coats (2 would've been fine!)

OPI Jade is the New Black

Hi all!!

I know you've probably seen this color like a million times, but I recently received it in a wonderful swap and MUST show you!!

I absolutely love it!! I've pretty much been drooling every I saw a picture of this shade, so I was very excited to get my own bottle! It certainly didn't disappoint!

Jade is the New Black is a gorgeous muted green. The formula was great (2 coats), the only complaint I have is the brush... I'm not a huge fan of OPI's wide brush...

OPI Lincoln Park after Dark

Good afternoon, readers!!

Easter is finally, here!! I have no classes tomorrow (Thursday), which means that my Easter break has started!!!! My family and I are having a road trip Friday morning (we're leaving at 3 AM) and we'll be leaving for Washington D.C to visit some aunts and uncles. I'm in a big need of retail therapy... so can't wait for that!

I don't know why I waited until spring to try this color on.... It seems like it would be perfect for those long winter days, no? I always like to wear vampy during the winter...

But anywho, Lincoln Park After Dark is a gorgeous dark blackened plum creme. For some reason, this color reminds me of blackberry pie.. hmmmm

OPI Ate Berries in the Canaries

This is Ate Berries in the Canaries from OPI Spain Collection. It's a surprisingly bright color-for a fall collection, but I like it! This was 2 coats. The color captured is not accurate: it's much brighter in real life.. I'd describe it as a pink fuchsia, a bright purple-ish pink or a berry pink.

Here's a swatch color from Wikipedia that I think is pretty true to what Ate Berries looks like:
