OPI Sweet Heart

Hi dearest readers!

I know I was supposed to post about OPI Stranger Tides..but I changed my mind d=

My summer class is finally over!! After continuous group work, paper, presentations, and exams, I feel soooo free! Stress-less! This feeling is soo great! Right after my final, I went out and had a nice day with my boyfriend. =)

Therefore, I finally painted my nails with OPI Sweet Heart, a sweet and soft pale pink. These pale colours with a white pigment base are always more difficult to apply. Surprisingly, I did not have much problem with OPI Sweet Heart. This is 2 coats.

The second picture is more accurate in terms of the colour. It is a very light beige pink. My friend at work says it looks a lot like Essie Spaghetti Strap but I find OPI Sweet Heart more opaque.

This friend will be leaving me soon; she found another job that is more in her field of studies =( I am very happy for her, but really sad about it in the same time. We have been working together every Saturday for so long... It is so great to have someone with whom you talk, have fun but never forget to have the job done seriously and properly. I am thinking of getting her a small gift with some nail polishes (so she remembers me heheheh) and some candies, because her eyes shine when she sees candies ; ) hahahha

Essie Topless & Barefoot

Topless & Barefoot is a total surprise! I thought this would be the colour I like the least in the Spring collection. This is also why I tried it last.. but what a great surprise! Formula is the best one among the 4 nail polishes I have. I have nothing to complain about the application! This beige colour makes your hand look softer and more elegant. An appropriate neutral colour to wear in my future interviews or business occasions. I love it!! =)

Wedding!!!

Hey guys!!

The wedding was AMAZING! Everything went smoothly, the bride, groom, bridesmaids (and junior bridesmaids) and groomsmen all looked so good! I am so happy for my cousin!! :) I couldn't contain my joy... as soon as she walked down the aisle, I started to cry.

Anywho, everybody had such a great time! My cousin looked stunning!

All the bridesmaids wore  lavender dresses, so we chose very neutral colors. I totally forgot to take pictures that day, but I swatched the colors quickly last weekend. (I broke a nail at work, so please excuse my ugly-looking index nail).

I chose to wear OPI Have a Tempura Tantrum on my tips
This was 3 coats.

The maid of honor and my sister both chose OPI Miso Happy with this Color
Also 3 coats here.

And now for the bride!!!! We went to Wal-Mart together one day, and I was trying to explain to her to color I thought would be perfect when I saw this one. It was perfect! She loved it!!!

Rimmel French Rose
3 coats
Application was very good. I liked the milky consistency of the polish. The look is very clean, simple and fresh.

I'm glad the wedding is over now! No more stressing!
A few cousins and I are planning to go to NYC/Brooklyn for the weekend! It's gonna be fun!

OPI Have a Tempura Tan-Trum

OPI Have a Tempura Tan-Trum -- beautiful light peachy beige creme. This was 3 coats, because it was quite streaky at 2 coats. This was my go-to colour during the summer, when I still worked at my city's Town Hall (work=playing Freecell all day ;) ). Definitely a safe, work colour!

Look at me - I gotta case of body language

No, no, those are not lyrics from a Heidi Montag's song, but rather, from one of the greatest band EVER, Queen!!

Queen's Body Language was the song that I had stuck in my head when I swatched this color--Essie Body Language.
I would describe this shade as a pinkish, greyish neutral shade. It's a very very light beige colour, I'd say. (3 coats)

I think I've got the 'cantstopshopping' bug... School being right downtown and in the middle of shops is NOT helping me...I'm constantly thinking about my next purchase, whether it's nail polish, CDs or clothes; and what stores I want to go to.
What's happening?! I was so good last semester!! Must.resist.Concentrate.on.school.

New KO Polish

Has anyone seen this in real life or tried it?

It's KnockOut Cosmetics' newest matte polish, called Plaster. I was thinking about getting a KO polish yesterday, so I went on their website and saw this.
I guess "Plaster" is a pretty appropriate name; from what I see from the picture, it's a skin-colored polish. I wonder if it'll look good- keeping in mind that it's matte- or if it'll just look like I don't have nails... I'm thinking that it can either be gorgeous or a total fail..

What do you guys think?! Yay or Nay?

Btw, I can't believe it's snowing here already!! I was soo surprised Monday when I woke up and saw that everything was white outside!!! Come back sun and summer! Come back!

MAC: Jin Soon for MAC Nail Trend FW 2009

Hey guys!!

I finally have pictures of Jin Soon for MAC Nail Trend's Cool Reserve, Dance All Night and Beyond Jealous. There are 3 more from this collection, but I did not buy them just because they did not really appeal to me....

Anyways, I'm so sorry it took me so much time. Because of school, I don't have time to swatch so these are pretty much last weeks NOTDs.

Cool Reserve is described as a "dirty grey lavender" and I can't describe it better. 2 coats.

Dance All Night. I had to have this shade ever since I saw it in pictures, I don't know why. It's red, nothing very unique but it's such a pretty brick red and it's got that old, burnt feel to it that I love. This was 2 coats.

Beyond Jealous is a dark green, almost blackish, but you can definitely see the green base. According to my dad, this is the nicest shade I've ever had on, although he thought it was black hahaha. 2 coats.

I'm pretty satisfied with these 3. The only complaint I have about MAC polishes is that they tend to chip very quickly on me. :(. Otherwise, very nice formula.

As promised,

Here's my mani for the Gonzales concert and the last four days. YES! FOUR! OMG Scandalous!

Dior's Porcelain/Porcelaine can be described as a pinkish porcelain color with white silverish shimmer. It's really cute and pretty. I believe it was from their Spring 2009 collection.

See the shimmer:

Sephora by OPI Mattes

Hi guys! Hope you're having a fun weekend!
Last month, I got the Sephora by OPI matte nail polishes. I guess they're following OPI's direction and "reissued" some colors. I believe all three are from $OPI's core line but I might be wrong...

Metro Chich Matte - "matte dark smoke with a hint of purple". The original one was a hit amongst nail polish fanatics. I don't own the original one but I believe matte is lightly (at least from the pictures I've seen)

Domestic Goddess Matte is probably my favorite out of all three. "matte bright grape" as described on Sephora's website. It really pretty. I love purple polishes and this one was no exception.

What's a Tire Jack? Matte is a very matte black. There's no other way to describe it. I also love this one. My 2nd favorite, I guess. It's a true black and true matte.

Application with these were fairly good. They all took 2-3 coats. They didn't dry as fast as the Matte OPIs but still in decent time. The formula was not too thick compared to other matte. I swatched these very quickly but if I had been more careful with my application, there would not have been those bumps and dents on my nails. Please excuse them :)

I really like the matte finish of these $OPI. It's not as chalky as the OPI mattes, which is a good thing. They look... matte. That's all.

Similar to other mattes, they recommend to not use it with base coat, top coat or hand lotion. But you guys can totally ignore that (except the top coat part if you want it to be matte, duh). I used it with base coat and it was fine. As long as the base is dried before you apply color. As for the hand lotion, it'll make the finish more satiny but it won't be glossy.

You can get these three polishes from Sephora's website for $9 US or $12 CAD. They are also sold in stores now. These are limited edition so get them while you can!

OPI Suede Collection Fall 2009

Ok guys,

I spend my day swatching OPI's Suede Collection.. honestly, I don't think I will ever swatch 6 bottles of nail polish ever again! You'll probably see in the pictures where I got tired of it -- application was pretty sloppy and I didn't even bother putting oil on my cuticles.... Sorry! As much as I love polish, 6=too much!!!!
Also, I promise my cuticles don't look as bad in real life :) (That's why I posted small pictures but feel free to click to see some huge a** pics).

On to the collection. This collection is made of six classic OPI shades in a suede finish which means that it's not as matte as the Mattes. More like satiny. Application was wonderful. The formula was smooth and it didn't dry as quickly as the OPI mattes which means that it's more forgiving.

They say you can't use basecoat with these but just ignore that. As long as your basecoat is dry before applying the Suedes, it'll be fine.

Ok let's start. (enlarge pictures to see shimmer in these)

You Don't Know Jacques Suede. The original came out in the France Collection last year. There is also a matte version that was released recently. None of them look-a-like. I don't have the matte version but do have the original. Here's a comparison:

From left to right: YDKJ, YDKJ with Essie Matte Top Coat, YDKJ Suede and YDKJ suede with top coat.

Next up is Lincoln Park After Dark Suede, originally from Chicago Collection. This looks nothing like the original, but it's still gorgeous! Purple with a lot of shimmer

LPAD, LPAD with Essie Matte TC, LPAD suede and LPAD suede with top coat.

Suzi Skies in the Pyrenees Suede, originally from Spain Collection. Very pretty. The original was supposed to be a dark smoky blue but in Suede, it's more charcoal grey.

Here: SSITP suede with top coat, SSITP suede, SSITP with Essie Matte TC, SSITP

We'll Always Have Paris Suede, also originally from the France collection. Pinkish purple with a lot of shimmer! Love this one.

On index and ring finger is WAHP Suede with top coat.

Next is where things got ugly--application and cuticle wise. Prepare yourselves.

OPI Ink Suede. Originally from Night Brights Collection. This is more purple in real life.

On index and ring fingers: Ink suede with top coat.

Last, is Russian Navy Suede. The original was from Russian Collection. Beautiful blue shimmer. A lot less dark than the matte, and more blue too.

from left to right: RN Suede with top coat, RN Suede, RN Matte with top coat and RN matte.

Most of these are nothing like their other versions. Overall, I really liked these-very pretty. Also, the Suedes with top coat is even more gorgeous. The shimmer you see with the suede finish is pretty good but with TC, Hello, Sparkle!
The shades are very nice but since they're so different than the originals, I would have preferred another name... It's getting kinda confusing Russian Navy, Russian Navy matte, Russian Navy Suede... Too many with the same name. That is propably my only problem/complain about this collection.

These are available now in most beauty store or from TransDesign!
Enjoy!
