OPI Can You Tapas This?

This was yesterday's mani! I had my marketing presentation and had forgotten to change my nail color (it was green) so I had to wake up early to do it! Haha my parents definitely thought I was crazy!

Anyways, I chose OPI Can You Tapas This?, from the Spain Collection, released for Fall.

Beautiful red-brown creme. This color definitely screams "fall" to me! I really like this one! The formula on this one was thinner than most of the OPI I have, but it was still pretty good. Pictured was 3 coats, although it could easily have been 2.

So I'm finally done with my Marketing presentation/product development! Hooray! No more group meetings!! As much as I love my teammates, seeing them everyday for 3-4 hours straight was just too much for me :) Hopefully we'll get a good grade!

Have a great day!

Nfu-Oh 274

This is probably one of my favorite polishes that I currently own.
It's just gorgeous!!!!!

Nfu274 is a beautiful dark greenish teal (or teal-ish green). It's a tad darker in real life, compared to the picture, but still beautiful nonetheless.

I've always loved Nfu-Oh's bottle because they're so pretty! I didn't think of taking any pictures, so I'll just describe it to you: it's a cute little corset dress! The corset part is the handle and there even detailing on the back!
The formula is pretty good too: it's pigmented, easy to apply, smooth and perfect consistency.

Nfu-Oh can be bought from FabulouStreet for $12.50 USD/$13.82 CND a bottle (free shipping within the US)!

Have a great week!

Zoya Kalista

Boy am I glad my first semester at University is almost over... It's been chaotic!!
Right now, I'm not sure if I want to stay in the same program anymore, but we'll see...

Anyways. This is my mani from 2 days ago, so please excuse the tip wear! It's been two full days of typing on the computer and doing statistics...

Beautiful reddish brown shimmer! I absolutely love this, and I don't normally wear brown (whether it's nail polish or clothes). Zoya's formula is also great so I have no complaints there!

Have a fun weekend!

Orly Purple Velvet and Konad M60

Here's Purple Velvet by itself:

And now with Konad M60:

I used OPI Suzi Skies in the Pyrenees Suede for the checkered pattern. I didn't use any top coat though since I wanted to keep the matte look, but during my sleep, the pattern got rubbed off and I woke up with half konaded nails :(.
Next time, I'll use Essie Matte about You.

Diamond Cosmetics Giddy

This polish deserves the award for the worst formula ever!!! (in my stash, anyways)
It was goopy, it was runny yet thick and very hard to control!
and on top of that, a bad top coat!! gaaarrgghhh. I tried this on Tuesday night and took it off Wednesday morning.

Giddy: a pastel powder blue creme. The color is not very exciting. It's almost white with a little hint of blue. I didn't bother Konading or even with cleanup because I knew I had to take it off the next morning...

As for the top coat, I used Essie Good to Go fast drying top coat and there were lots of shrinkage and bubbles! I think my bottle thickened a bit, so that would explain why it was so hard to apply properly. You can clearly see on shrinkage the tips of my fingers.

You can get Diamond Cosmetics here for only $2.00 (USD) a bottle!

I admit, I am a...

GLEEK!!!!

Oh my god. I have to say, Glee is the best, most adorable, cutest, makes you smile all the time TV show there is right now!!! Gahh Whenever I'm watching Glee, I'm always smiling like an idiot.

It's ridiculous how cute this cast is! I love every single one of the characters!

Puck is ridiculously HOT
Kurt is fierce
Artie is a cutie pie!!
Rachel is such a snob, I love it
Mercedes - oh god, can this girl sing!
Finn is so awkward, you can't help but love him
Quinn is gorgeous
Tina is just adorable
Mr. Schue -hottest teacher I've ever seen
Sue S. is AMAZING!! Cracks me up every time
And the rest of the cast is just as good as the people mentioned here!

The dancing, the singing, the colors.. If I could choose an ideal world to live in, it would be Glee world. Seriously.

If you haven't watched a Glee episode yet, I strongly urge you to!! Everybody needs a bit of Glee in their lives.... If you don't have time to watch it, go get they're CD!!

Sally Hansen HD Cyber

Another purple!! Yay!

The color here is not very accurate, since it's so hard to capture purple correctly, but it's the most true-to-life I could get.

Released this summer, I believe, from their HD line, this is Cyber, a nice purple shimmer.

It's definitely summery! It's very vivid and I consider it a "happy purple".

Application was nice, the only complaint I have here is the brush... It's not the brush itself but the length of the plastic stem (I know I don't have to right word here but I can't find the right one to use). The distance from the handle to the brush was way too long for me. I'm not used to such a long brush....

NOTD: Rescue Beauty Lounge Purple Haze

Happy Monday!
I have a busy week ahead of me getting ready for my Marketing presentation... HAPPY TIMES!

Anyways, I have sooo many purple polishes that I've never tried, I randomly picked two in a row this week. Usually, when that happens, I always go back to my untrieds box and pick another one...

I'll start with the latest one I've had on my nails, which is also my nail of the day!

As I've said many times before, Rescue Beauty Lounge's formulas are simply perfection, so I'm not gonna say anything more.

Purple Haze is a beautiful purple creme. I thought I had one pretty close to this color in my stash, but I was wrong. Very unique, I'd say.

I'm off to do more research for our project. We must NAIL this presentation because there is no way in hell I'll be able to get a good mark in the final. ;)

Sally Hansen Honeydew

This one is from last week. I picked one up from my untrieds bin and surprise, surprise, it was Honeydew, from the Tracy Reese Spring 2009 collection!!!

I was going to put a top coat until I spotted my Essie Matte about You.

This is Honeydew without top coat (with bad bathroom light):

and here it is with Matte about You:

Beautiful turquoise shimmer. It's absolutely gorgeous. I think I'll be grabbing this one a lot, despite the craptastic formula. It was pretty bad..... but at least the color kinda makes up for it :)

I know this one was kinda hard to find-I still have never seen it sold in Montreal. I was lucky enough to get this in a swap :) Gotta love swaps!

Enjoy your weekend!

Revlon Coconut Crush

So sorry for the lack of updates!
My marketing team and I just learned on Wednesday night that our big project (we have to develop a new product/service) and final presentation (pitch the idea to the class) is on the 23rd! We have less than 2 weeks to do it and prepare for it!!!!!! So my next week is filled with group meetings and late hours at school...

Anyways.... last week, I was able to swatch Revlon's Coconut Crush, from the Fruitful Temptation collection, which is a line of 8 scented nail polishes. Cool, isnt it?

Although it is nothing amazing, the color is a beautiful ivory frosted shimmer and like the name says, it smells like coconut! Pictured is 2 coats.

About the scent: it does smell like coconut and it smells good... at first. I don't know how I feel about my nails constantly smelling like fruit when I wear this polish. Honestly, I woke up with the smell of artificial coconut and it was not good at all.

Sephora by OPI Dark Room

Another $OPI!!
Later in the summer, Sephora released a color "exclusive" to Beauty Insiders. "Exclusive" because I saw it in display in stores, so anybody can buy it. Any
ways, their website describes Dark Room as a "deep almost black with a hint of midnight green". I think this is a pretty acurate description.

I know many were expecting this to be more green and were decei
ved. It has a hint of teal in there, very visible in the bottle but not so so much on the nails.

I'm not blown away by this one.. The formula was pretty thin, as it took me 3 coats for it to be opaque.

You can get this in-stores now or from Sephora.com

When in need of a good laugh...

My sister sent me this link last year and it's been in my favorites ever since!

A little avant-gout:

"I got this shirt as a gift for my 40th birthday. I put it on, I felt as if I was 39 again. Seriously."

"What is so sweet about this shirt is that the back is blank. That way my mullet hair will not inhibit the beautiful artwork on this baby. Like my mullet, it is a party in the front, business in the back."

"When the package arrived, I opened it with my left hand and began to realize there was a strange tingling sensation in my right hand! Suddenly it rushed forth through my entire body. When it hit my head I saw God! "

Curious?!?!?! Wanna know what they're talking about?! Check it out here

Sephora by OPI Mermaid to Order

Last summer, the Sephora by OPI team released 6 "mermaid" shades. The collection consisted of 6 bottles of greys, turquoise and blues.

I got one of them, Mermaid to Order after hearing all the great feedback it got.

I'll be honest, I was a bit disappointed. I would describe this as a a metallic turquoise with shimmer. The color gorgeous but I don't like the metallic finish too too much, since 95% of the time, you can see brushstrokes. It wasn't that bad here, but I'm still not fully in love with this color. It's a bit sheer so this took me 3 coats.

These are still available on Sephora's website here.

Lippmann Collection Celebration Set

Finally! I have some pictures of the Lippmann Collection Celebration Set. I'm a big procrastinator, what can I say?!

Funky Chunky:
Sheer black-based polish with little black hexagonal glitter. Now I've heard really bad reviews about this polish, but I saw a picture Vampy Varnish I really liked it, so I thought I'd give it a chance. Turns out, even though it's not the most fun polish to apply, the effect here is pretty cool! Like Ms. Lippmann said, it's something very futuristic. 2 coats
Huh? Pretty cool right? Sorry about the random hair on the nail in the first picture btw.
The key to having a cool look with this one is to not put a top coat on and just let the glitter be: don't try to position them and make it look "good". It'll look good on its own.

Superstar:
Brown based packed glitter polish. I really liked how much glitter was stuffed in this polish. At first, I didn't really like the color on me, but the more I have it on, the more I like it. I don't know if I'll be wearing it a lot though, because removal was a b***h... Very nice, though! See it sparkle in the sun!

Ruby Red Slippers:
This one was the one I was most excited about, and it did NOT disappoint!!! I love this sooo much! It might be one of my favorite nail polish! Black based polish with red normal and hexagonal glitter. It's gorgeous. That's it, that's all. 3 coats
GORGEOUS!

First Konad Post!!

but not the best pictures to show it, unfortunately...

I've had Konad plates for a while now, but haven't used them a lot. I love nail art and love to see it on others but most of the time, I'm too lazy to do it on my own nails. I mostly love patterns that cover my whole nails, so you won't see me with a little flower or hearts here and there very often.
I have a friend who LOVES that so I'll take pictures of her nails next time ;)

It looks muuuch better in real life. It's a little smudged here and there but I was still pretty satisfied with my attempt.

I used Revlon No Shrinking Violet as a base color, and then to do the pattern, Konad plate M60 and Special polish in Gold Brown, I think.

You can get Konad plates from WowsoCool, Konad Nail Art or OC Nail Art

Nubar Peacock Feathers

Hello!!

So.... I had heard a while back about Nubar nail polish and how great their duochromes were so when I got the chance to swap for one, I jumped on it!!! YES!

I got Peacock Feathers, a beautiful duochrome that transforms from shimmery purple to shimmery green. It's so cool. Check it out:

This is the purple that you see at full angle:

Another that shows the duochrome:
I did my best to catch the duochrome but I didn't have good light so please excuse me.

Zoya Loredana

I went out with some friends a few weeks ago and got a mega bruise on a toe :(. I am now crippled. Worst thing is, I'm not sure how it happened.....

Anyways, I left the house in a hurry, but I was able to slap on a new color!
Pretty pretty. I know many don't like the matte trend, but I'm totally loving it! I don't like chalky (most of the OPI mattes) but anything satin-y, I love. Plus, this one has some shimmer, so it's a winner in my book!.

Pink Round Up 2

More Pinks!! Here is the second part of my pinks!

Zoya Dita

OPI That's Hot! Pink

Essie Short Shorts. (Neon in real life and a bit darker)

Zoya Renee (neon pink)

China Glaze Sexy Lady

Zoya Emme

All of these were 2 coaters, no problems with application.

MAC: Jin Soon for MAC Nail Trend FW 2009

Hey guys!!

I finally have pictures of Jin Soon for MAC Nail Trend's Cool Reserve, Dance All Night and Beyond Jealous. There are 3 more from this collection, but I did not buy them just because they did not really appeal to me....

Anyways, I'm so sorry it took me so much time. Because of school, I don't have time to swatch so these are pretty much last weeks NOTDs.

Cool Reserve is described as a "dirty grey lavender" and I can't describe it better. 2 coats.

Dance All Night. I had to have this shade ever since I saw it in pictures, I don't know why. It's red, nothing very unique but it's such a pretty brick red and it's got that old, burnt feel to it that I love. This was 2 coats.

Beyond Jealous is a dark green, almost blackish, but you can definitely see the green base. According to my dad, this is the nicest shade I've ever had on, although he thought it was black hahaha. 2 coats.

I'm pretty satisfied with these 3. The only complaint I have about MAC polishes is that they tend to chip very quickly on me. :(. Otherwise, very nice formula.

Pinks Round Up

October is over, same goes for midterms :) Hoorah!!
So I've been doing pinks this month and realized that I don't have many of them. Haha makes sense, since I don't like pink on my nails all that much.

Here they are:

OPI La Paz-Itively Hot matte

Zoya Ali

Essie Status Symbol

Sally Hansen HD Hi-Res

China Glaze Mom's Chiffon

OPI Kreme de la Kremlin

Zoya Katy

MAC Lola Devine

I have a 3 more pinks in my stash but they're all neon and with the weather right now in Mtl, it's pretty hard to get the color right. I tried, but they all look the same in the pictures... I'll wait till we have a bit of sun, and I'll swatch them again :)
