Week-late Valentine's Day mani

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day last week!!
I got to spend it with my family, as we also celebrated the Lunar New Year!

I guess I could have used more appropriate colors, but oh whatever! :)

I used GOSH Silver as a base - a nice silver foil and - and then added a layer of Honey-dew You Love Me, which is clear polish with blue regular glitter and blue heart glitters. How cute is that polish's name?!

Alright so who here also follows the Olympics religiously?!?!
What is/was your favorite sport to watch?? How awesome was Shaun White's last run down that half pipe?

OPI Pamplona Purple

I just realized this is my 3rd purple post in a row, so you guys are probably saying "Another purple?!?!" it's okay.. next one will not be purple, I promise.
I just love purple nail polish so much!!

Last Saturday, my grandparents came over for dinner and I got to do my grandma's nails! She chose OPI Pamplona Purple. A gorgeous purple creme from the Spain collection. I didn't have time to take a picture of it on her, but not to worry, I decided to do the same color on my own nails because it was just so pretty!

It's almost Christmas, guys!! I've been thinking about what color I'm gonna be doing for the holiday!
Any ideas?? What are you doing for you Holiday mani?

OPI Can You Tapas This?

This was yesterday's mani! I had my marketing presentation and had forgotten to change my nail color (it was green) so I had to wake up early to do it! Haha my parents definitely thought I was crazy!

Anyways, I chose OPI Can You Tapas This?, from the Spain Collection, released for Fall.

Beautiful red-brown creme. This color definitely screams "fall" to me! I really like this one! The formula on this one was thinner than most of the OPI I have, but it was still pretty good. Pictured was 3 coats, although it could easily have been 2.

So I'm finally done with my Marketing presentation/product development! Hooray! No more group meetings!! As much as I love my teammates, seeing them everyday for 3-4 hours straight was just too much for me :) Hopefully we'll get a good grade!

Have a great day!

Sephora by OPI Dark Room

Another $OPI!!
Later in the summer, Sephora released a color "exclusive" to Beauty Insiders. "Exclusive" because I saw it in display in stores, so anybody can buy it. Any
ways, their website describes Dark Room as a "deep almost black with a hint of midnight green". I think this is a pretty acurate description.

I know many were expecting this to be more green and were decei
ved. It has a hint of teal in there, very visible in the bottle but not so so much on the nails.

I'm not blown away by this one.. The formula was pretty thin, as it took me 3 coats for it to be opaque.

You can get this in-stores now or from Sephora.com

MAC: Jin Soon for MAC Nail Trend FW 2009

Hey guys!!

I finally have pictures of Jin Soon for MAC Nail Trend's Cool Reserve, Dance All Night and Beyond Jealous. There are 3 more from this collection, but I did not buy them just because they did not really appeal to me....

Anyways, I'm so sorry it took me so much time. Because of school, I don't have time to swatch so these are pretty much last weeks NOTDs.

Cool Reserve is described as a "dirty grey lavender" and I can't describe it better. 2 coats.

Dance All Night. I had to have this shade ever since I saw it in pictures, I don't know why. It's red, nothing very unique but it's such a pretty brick red and it's got that old, burnt feel to it that I love. This was 2 coats.

Beyond Jealous is a dark green, almost blackish, but you can definitely see the green base. According to my dad, this is the nicest shade I've ever had on, although he thought it was black hahaha. 2 coats.

I'm pretty satisfied with these 3. The only complaint I have about MAC polishes is that they tend to chip very quickly on me. :(. Otherwise, very nice formula.

Sally Hansen Salon Mode Collection 2009

Hey there! So amidst the ugly weather here in Montreal, we had a bit of sunshine during the weekend. I took advantage of it and swatched all day Saturday (instead of studying..)

Today, I present you Sally Hansen Salon Mode collection for fall 2009. The formula of all these were pretty thin and runny. It was not that bad, but it's not the consistency that I'm used to from Sally Hansen Salon. As I've said before, none of these are creams. They're all shimmers and I was surprised at some colors!

Pictures first, then info.
American Beauty. Berry shimmer. It's a nice color, but not unique. I'm not head over heels. Love the shimmer, though. 3 coats.

Project Runway. BEAUTIFUL turquoise-ish green with gold microglitter. I love this. I was expecting amazingness when I saw the bottle, and it definitely delivered. 3 coats

Purple Heart. Purple with blue and red microglitter. This was nice. It reminded me of China Glaze Let's Groove, but compared side by side, they do not look alike. I believe this one is darker than ChG but they both have blue and red microglitter. 2 coats.

Fashion Forward. It looks blurple (bluish purple) in the bottle, but on the nails, it's dark dark blue. Like the others, it's also a shimmer. I wanted this one to be like the color in the bottle sooo bad!!! but I still like it. I don't really think "fashion forward" is a proper name for this one though.. 3 coats, but could have easily been 2.

Burnt Sienna. I wasn't expecting to like this color when I bought it, but wow. I don't have any other color like this, since olive-ish gold shimmer doesn't normally suit me. But wowwee. I love this one! I like the name too! 3 coats.

Valentino. Brown shimmer. Love this one too! I was pleasantly surprised with this one as well! It's a brown bas color, with tiny tiny microscopic gold and green glitter. In sunlight, you definitely see the olive gold (see in the picture?!). I love this shade, and I don't normally like brown. I think this was 2 coats.

Overall, I like this collection. I'm not going gaga over this, but was pleasantly surprised with half of the shades. I love unexpected beauties! The one that stands out though, is Project Runway. It's a must for every green lover.

By the way, I have pictures of 2 out of 3 Lippmann Celebration polishes. the 3rd'll come.. I just have to give my hand a rest from the glitter scrubbing :)

Rescue Beauty Lounge Orbis Non Sufficit

Continuing with another Rescue Beauty Lounge Blogger polish!!

This one is from the Polish Addict, named Orbis Non Sufficit:

I'll get to the polish in a minute, but I just had to say: "DAMN YOU SCHOOL!!!!! LOOK WHAT YOU DID TO MY HANDS!".

Ok done.

I would describe Orbis Non Sufficit as a muted army green creme. It's very pretty and one of the rare greens that I like on my nails. It has a dusty look too, which I love. Pictured above was 2 coats, with Poshe top coat.

As for the other RBLs application was amazing. See that picture? I didn't do any clean-up because it was that easy to apply and control. If only all nail polishes were like that.

Again, these polishes are limited edition and retail for $18/ea USD. For all international gals, I would say get this, but only if you can justify paying $40 for shipping!

Here's another picture in sunlight:

Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie

Hi all!

I've recently shown you my Rescue Beauty Lounge haul. Well well I wore Scrangie as soon as I could!

Isn't it beautiful? This is by the fabulous Scrangie with the help of Rescue Beauty Lounge.

I'll let Scrangie describe it: "It's a medium blue-based purple with green iridescence and green microshimmer". Hell yeah.

I love it!!! I will definitely be wearing it a lot!!

The formula was great, as always, although unlike my other RBLs, this one took me 3 coats to be even. It usually only takes me two. I don't know what else to say.. I simply love Rescue Beauty Lounge. I love their packaging, I love their customer service. The only thing that makes me say "ehh..." is the price. $18 US for a bottle! I have to say, that's pretty crazy. My RBLs are by far my most expensive nail polishes. (It used to be a nars, but I swapped it, so it doesn't count). It's pretty amazing that I have 9 RBL polishes, I have to say... that says a lot about my love for them, I guess.

Not only is the price a little steep, the shipping rate is EVEN HIGHER! They charge $40 for all international orders! CAH-RAZEEEE!! It is at times like these that I am grateful for my family in the States.. hehehe joke joke.

Anyways, I cannot wait to try on the other two from this limited edition collex.

Another lovely haul package!

Once again, this week was a great mail week!

Despite that I had to rush to finish business statistics assignment, these lovelies cheered me up! This time, it was a Orly haul from TransDesign!

From left to right: Purple Velvet, Blue Satin, Enchanted Forest, Velvet Rope, Mirror Mirror and Happily Ever After.

Purple Velvet and Blue Satin, from the recently released Matte Couture Collection. The third one from the collection is called Matte Vinyl, but I didn't buy it since I already have $SOPI What's a Tire Jack I didn't think I'd need 2 matte blacks.

My 3 choices from the Once Upon A Time collection. Enchanted forest, Mirror Mirror and Happily Ever After. Can't wait to try Enchanted Forest after having heard all the rave on MUA.

And finally, for Velvet Rope, I just had to take a real close-up shot:

Holy macaroni, I cannot wait to try this on! Gorgeous purple with silver glitter/shimmer!! Being the purple junkie that I am, I am DROOLING!

I also got Poshe fast frying top coat.

Sooo I have my first midterm exam next week and I'm scared. Not only that, but it's an accounting exam. God knows how much I hate accounting. Hopefully, I won't die.

Wish me luck! I'll try to take some "study breaks" to update this blog! :)

OPI Suede Collection Fall 2009

Ok guys,

I spend my day swatching OPI's Suede Collection.. honestly, I don't think I will ever swatch 6 bottles of nail polish ever again! You'll probably see in the pictures where I got tired of it -- application was pretty sloppy and I didn't even bother putting oil on my cuticles.... Sorry! As much as I love polish, 6=too much!!!!
Also, I promise my cuticles don't look as bad in real life :) (That's why I posted small pictures but feel free to click to see some huge a** pics).

On to the collection. This collection is made of six classic OPI shades in a suede finish which means that it's not as matte as the Mattes. More like satiny. Application was wonderful. The formula was smooth and it didn't dry as quickly as the OPI mattes which means that it's more forgiving.

They say you can't use basecoat with these but just ignore that. As long as your basecoat is dry before applying the Suedes, it'll be fine.

Ok let's start. (enlarge pictures to see shimmer in these)

You Don't Know Jacques Suede. The original came out in the France Collection last year. There is also a matte version that was released recently. None of them look-a-like. I don't have the matte version but do have the original. Here's a comparison:

From left to right: YDKJ, YDKJ with Essie Matte Top Coat, YDKJ Suede and YDKJ suede with top coat.

Next up is Lincoln Park After Dark Suede, originally from Chicago Collection. This looks nothing like the original, but it's still gorgeous! Purple with a lot of shimmer

LPAD, LPAD with Essie Matte TC, LPAD suede and LPAD suede with top coat.

Suzi Skies in the Pyrenees Suede, originally from Spain Collection. Very pretty. The original was supposed to be a dark smoky blue but in Suede, it's more charcoal grey.

Here: SSITP suede with top coat, SSITP suede, SSITP with Essie Matte TC, SSITP

We'll Always Have Paris Suede, also originally from the France collection. Pinkish purple with a lot of shimmer! Love this one.

On index and ring finger is WAHP Suede with top coat.

Next is where things got ugly--application and cuticle wise. Prepare yourselves.

OPI Ink Suede. Originally from Night Brights Collection. This is more purple in real life.

On index and ring fingers: Ink suede with top coat.

Last, is Russian Navy Suede. The original was from Russian Collection. Beautiful blue shimmer. A lot less dark than the matte, and more blue too.

from left to right: RN Suede with top coat, RN Suede, RN Matte with top coat and RN matte.

Most of these are nothing like their other versions. Overall, I really liked these-very pretty. Also, the Suedes with top coat is even more gorgeous. The shimmer you see with the suede finish is pretty good but with TC, Hello, Sparkle!
The shades are very nice but since they're so different than the originals, I would have preferred another name... It's getting kinda confusing Russian Navy, Russian Navy matte, Russian Navy Suede... Too many with the same name. That is propably my only problem/complain about this collection.

These are available now in most beauty store or from TransDesign!
Enjoy!

Essie Fall Collection

Hello, there!

Essie has finally released their fall collection!

The colors are (in Essie's words):

Chinchilly, a granite gray;
Angora Cardi, a deep dusty rose;
Mink Muffs, a smoky plush taupe;
Midnight Cami, shimmering twilight blue;
Bright Tights, electric orange burst (NEON!!!) and
Pink Parka, piping hot pink.

Two neons, guys!! For fall!! So cool!

Anyways, I am definitely getting (and I am basing this on the color on the picture) Angora Cardi, Chinchilly and Pink Parka!!
What do you think about these (,Kelly?)

You can get them here or from etailers!

Enjoy!
